My name is Faith Stewart, and I have studied Environmental Science and Resource Management at CSU Channel Islands. I was born and raised in Ventura, California, and from my early childhood I would spend most of the year seeing and interacting with the Pacific coast. Additionally, I would annually visit Michigan to spend time at Lake Huron. For me, I have one foot in the ocean and the other in freshwater lakes, which has really grown my perspective on marine environments as I have grown older. As a person, I always strive to give my all to any task. When faced with a challenge, I adapt quickly, and learn what is the best approach to tackle the task at hand. My interests range from studying the impacts of human activity on marine environments, analyzing data with computer softwares such as RStudio and ArcGiS, presenting/creating comprehensive media for environmental research, and going out to field sites to collect samples. Currently, I am working with the Port of Huneme in California where I am learning about the environmental side of keeping a port in check. This ranges from writing monthly reports on vessel and trucking activities for the California Air Resource Board (CARB), preparing and implementing projects to achieve the Port of Hueneme's continuing Green Marine Cerification goals, as well as collaborate with various organizations to make the Port of Hueneme a more environmentally conscious space for it community.
